The Blues Bar first Broadcast in November 2013 on Brill1449. It has grown from just a handful of listeners to a growing number worldwide who listen on line to the station. Playing an eclectic mix of both traditional 'old time' blues standards from such greats as B.B King, Jack Johnson, Blind Willy McPhee etc. to the greats of today like Joe Bonamassa, Beth Hart, Taj Mahall, Deborah Coleman and Eric Clapton to mention but a few.

Along side of these blues greats, the show also promotes new and up and coming tallent, showcaseing artist trying to gain the ear of a bigger audiance. Such bands or individuals sadly do not get the opportunity to have their music aired on larger national or commercial stations. We can offer that opportunity because of the way Brill1449 operates. It's more like one of those old 'Pirate' stations that used to operate in the 60's. But we are fully licenced.

Brill1449 first went 'Live' on air in September 2013 and has steadly grown to become one of the best 'small' privatly owned radio stations in the UK today. The presenter of the 'Blues Bar' show (Nigel Thorne) which goes out live on Tuesday nights between 8pm and 10pm has a love of all blues music spreading over many years. Nigel firmly believes in 'Feeling' blues music and states that "You don't just listen to the blues, you feel the blues".

In an exciting new move Nigel has now opened a second bar which broadcasts from Radio Vera in Southern Ireland. The show retains the very popular 'live' format enjoyed by so many listeners of 'The Blues Bar' shows and Nigel is very excited to be associated with Radio Vera, coupled with the opportunity to bring great blues music to a much larger audiance both in Ireland and globally.

Nigel want's to not only entertain the listener, but to educate them to appreciate the emotions that lay behind the music. Both Brill1449 & Radio Vera allows this in ways other 'commercial' stations just cannot do. All the presenters on the station have a free open playlist and do not run to predefined or set playlists in any way, shape or form. Both station are different in their own ways and are proud to be that way. The Blues Bars are just a part of it all, but what a great part it is.
